Living in a farming community I have seen at first hand the havoc a dog can cause to livestock, especially at this time of year when the farms are lambing.Definitely the farmer should have the right to protect his livestock.
I have been looking for a few websites that mention the farmers rights specifically when it comes to dogs.

it depends on the dog, but here are some that i have seen:
-cats(dogs will sometimes love cats as play mates and sometimes they might just ignore them)
-Rabbits(my friends dog loves his rabbit)
-Hamsters(haha, my dog loves hamsters!)
-Ferrets(my friends dog likes his ferret)
-Birds(dogs don’t mind birds)
-Guinea pigs(i know someone who’s dog is best friends with a guinea [...]
i wouldn’t think so – typically dogs are categorized under “pets” in lease agreements. livestock shouldn’t include dogs but you may want to double check with the leaser.
